{"id":2585,"date":"2015-08-18T00:08:01","date_gmt":"2015-08-18T00:08:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/awtawooltesting.swim.net.au\/news\/wool-donation-to-warm-treasures\/"},"modified":"2015-08-18T00:08:01","modified_gmt":"2015-08-18T00:08:01","slug":"wool-donation-to-warm-treasures","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/awtawooltesting.swim.net.au\/zh_tw\/news\/wool-donation-to-warm-treasures\/","title":{"rendered":"Wool donation to warm treasures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE wool industry came together during August 2015 to make a $14,000 heartfelt donation to Life&#8217;s Little Treasure Foundation &#8211; a national charity dedicated to helping families of sick and premature babies.<\/p>\n<p>The contribution was made on behalf of the Australian Sheep &amp; Wool Show Fleece Competition and is the largest donation made in a single year in the history of the competition. Exhibitors donated two thirds of their fleece entries to the worthy cause.<\/p>\n<p>The fleeces were judged in July, and in August organisers put the contest&#8217;s 12 bales under the hammer at the Melbourne wool auction.<\/p>\n<p>Kelli Hugo, of Life&#8217;s Little Treasures, was thrilled the charity had been nominated for the event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been fantastic for our organisation, and also to be able to make a connection with the rural community,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a lot of families in rural and regional areas that need to travel to the city, and this will go a long way to helping them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She said 45,000 babies required intensive care each year, and Life&#8217;s Little Treasures&#8217; main objective was to provide information, support and understanding to those families.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Prematurity and its complications are the biggest causes of death up to the age of five,&#8221; Ms Hugo said. &#8220;And we get no government funding.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Landmark&#8217;s Candice Cordy said the fundraising added another component to the fleece competition, and had raised more than $100,000 over the past 14 years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a great joint effort between the wool industry\u2026all sectors are involved,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We try to get a new charity each year for the competition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Cordy said it was the largest fully-measured fleece competition in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The top-priced bale at the auction was 16.3 microns, and fetched 1071 cents a kilogram greasy.<\/p>\n<p>It sold to the Melbourne-based company Lempriere Limited, and is expected to make its way onto the European market for the high-end fashion market.<\/p>\n<p>Original Source: Louise Preece, Stock &amp; Land, 14 Aug 2015<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE wool industry came together during August 2015 to make a $14,000 heartfelt donation to Life&#8217;s Little Treasure Foundation &#8211; a national charity dedicated\u2026<\/p>","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"class_list":["post-2585","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/awtawooltesting.swim.net.au\/zh_tw\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/2585","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/awtawooltesting.swim.net.au\/zh_tw\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/awtawooltesting.swim.net.au\/zh_tw\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/awtawooltesting.swim.net.au\/zh_tw\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2585"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
